Double sided, cut-to-shape stickers

We were asked to print some double sided stickers to decorate the display cabinets at The British Museum, in time for the Christmas season.

Our Latex HP800W with its ability to print in multiple layers of colour and white at the same time (a process known as “sandwich printing”), was ideally suited for this job.

This short video illustrates how the different layers of ink are built up on the optically clear self adhesive film. Firstly you see the underneath colour image being printed at the top of the screen, this is then overlayed immediately by an isolated shape of solid white ink. A colour third layer is then printed directly on top of the white shape, to give a perfectly aligned sandwich to create a double sided sticker with an equally vibrant image no matter which side it is viewed from.

To finish off, we used our Summa CAD cutter to cut the clear stickers to shape, ready for installation on site at The British Museum in their gift shop display cases.
